Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy by Jane O'Connor
Description:
Fancy Nancy is back! And when her family decides to get a dog, she's certain she can be fancier than ever. After all, a papillon—a small, delicate, fluffy dog—is the ultimate accessory. But her family wants a large, plain dog. How unglamorous!
Activity: Dictionnaires Extraordinaires
After reading, ask students to record their two favorite fancy words from the book. Instruct small groups of students to write each favorite fancy word on a piece of paper and illustrate it in a fancy way. Once the groups finish their pages, have them create Dictionnaires Extraordinaires (extraordinary dictionaries) by binding the pages in alphabetical order and then designing a group cover.
